History

1920 Badger Coaches began when Herman E. Meier founded the company in 1920 with $100 that he borrowed from his father. He bought a truck chassis and hired someone to put a coach body on it. Initially, he transported passengers from Madison to Monroe, WI, sometimes getting the passengers to help him push the bus up the steep hills. Herman builds the company for the next 48 years.

1946 The company barely survived the Depression, but came into good fortune in when it won the rights to the Madison-to-Milwaukee run. Badger opens the Milwaukee Badger Bus Depot which they continue to operate today.
1950 Company starts to provide charter services which soon comprises 30 percent of the company's overall business.

1968 Herman's boys Robert, Richard and Calvin take over management of company and remain in charge for the next 20 years. Along with the successful coach lines expands into Badger Package Express and Meier Truck Services.
1978 Company starts to offer clients tours and planning services on a limited basis. Company becomes one of the University of Wisconsin primary motorcoach providers for athletic teams and other University functions.

1988 Current management team grandson's of Herman, John, Jim & David Meier take control of the company. Their hands on approach remains the driving force behind the growing success of the business today.
1995 Badger Tour and Travel is born and offers clients a wide variety of group travel options including day tours, extended escorted tours and air tours.

2004 Many millions of miles later, the company, based in Madison adds a second tour office in Milwaukee.
